A buck a bullet... Wow... Went to order some 300 gr Nosler Partitionss for my .45-70, and saw that the current price is now up to a buck apiece...
I've always thought of Nosler Partitions as being superb game bullets, and worth the extra cash, but still, that sort of set me back a moment. The way I justify their expense is:
1. I reserve the Noslers for serious hunting, and of course for final sight-in of the hunting rifle. If the bullet that takes my mulie, or elk or whatever costs a buck, I don't really care. It's a small thing in the overall cost of the hunt, and I know I'm hunting with a great bullet.
2. All my other shooting with that rifle (be it the .45-70 or anything else) is done with less expensive, conventional bullets of the same weight, loaded to the same velocity.
3. I do a whole lot of shooting with the little .22 rimfire Marlin instead of the big blaster.
A buck apiece is steep, but they are what they are, and they'll do the job like no other 300 grainer.
Regards, Guy
