A little fun

Was able to make a deal for a new to me barrel for the Contender.
This one looked like fun to me and after getting some loaded rounds together I touched off a few this afternoon. Lots of bang and a little jump but really not as bad as I was expecting.
My eyesight doesn’t get along with iron sights so only 25 yards to see what the holes would look like.
Mounted a scope this evening and will play some more tomorrow.
Luckily I had some Speer bullets that had some data in the Speer manual to get me started.
Now if Nosler would get bored and make a bullet out to use. A 225 grain Ballistic Tip might be fun. With a hole like this makes I don’t think it would have to expand much to put the hurt to deer sized game.

Sheez- every once in a while some body comes up w/ a contender that makes me really question why I bother shooting 12ga slugs at deer! Cool! (I'm scared I would'nt have enough muzzle control with one of those. Visions of me shooting the side mirror off the "rolling ground blind" :lol: ) CL

I've got a 375 Winchester barrel for my Contender. Indeed it is a hoot to shoot and it's a hammer on WT deer. I'm using the Sierra 200 gr Game King bullet.

That ought to work. I know a guy over in East NC that has one of those that he loves for deer hunting. I think he uses the 200 gr Sierra also.
I have two Contender frames with a number of barrels. My favorite deer killer is a 14" stainless Shilen barrel made by MGM in 30-30AI. Wickedly accurate and VERY deadly with 125 gr Nosler BT at 2670 fps muzzle velocity.

I have an order in for the Sierra 200. Thanks for the input on how they are working for you.
First loading session went very well. I was lucky to score 300 new brass and Redding dies with the barrel so I think I’m ready to go.
