i was getting ready to go to the range last weekend to test a new load for the 223
when my 16 year old daugther asked what i was doing.
when i said i was eading for the range, she asked if she could come along.
of course i said. i have test to do with the 223. but you can shoot your mom's 260 rem.
and when i'm done, you can shoot a few 223 round.
so off to the range we go. i begin by setting her up on the bench with the 260 model seven and a load of 120 gr ballistic tip.
she first shot the 3 shot group on the right, i then made a correction on the scope to the left
and she fired the 3 shot group on the left.

seeing the result i was impressed, it's about the best i can do with this rifle.
and i told her that a lot of exprerienced hunter that go to the range once or twice a year, dont shoot that good. so i challenged her to shoot sitting, with the rifle resting on her knee like she's
hunting with no place to rest the rifle on.
here are the results of her 3 shots group.
she flinched on the last shot to the left but the other 3 are pretty good.
(the 1 on the right was from the 30-30)

after i was doine with the 223, i had her shoot a group of 5, with a load using 55 ballistic tip and 24.1 gr h335. it's a pretty slow load but a very consistent 1/2 moa or better load.
from the bench @ 100y

She's good. Nice work on raising a daughter the right way.

Anytime spent with the kids is awesome. Shooting during that time is better!

Thats awesome that she wanted to go with you to the range. She is a very good rifle shot as well.

i was very glad she asked to come. it's always fun to spend time with them kids.
she's funny as hell too, always laughing and joking.
her's a few more pics. those were taken on one of the first mild days last spring.
it was her first try at shooting in another position than on a bench, also her first try at range longer than 100y

groups number one and 2 were shot at 200y
the group in yellow is 300 yard¸ they are about moa in size

this group was shot at 350 yard. the Wind picked up and started to blow them tiny bullets sideways :)

Dad, you need to go ahead and blow the $25 and buy that girl a shooting mat. No shooter of her skill should be in the dirt unless it's live fire in combat! ;)

That young lady is a fine shooter. Keep on encouraging her, Dad. Congratulations.

It's good that she dosen't mind getting down and in the dirt. Great shooting and it had to be a great time to be out with your daughter.
