A-Square vs AI

I understand the AI cartridges. Have a couple 280AI.

But what does A-Square signify?

Nosler data manual list 338-06 A-Square.

A-Square is an rifle and ammunition manufacturer. They got SAAMI approval for the 338-06 and called it their own.

Weatherby adopted A-Square 338-06 drawings and built a few rifles but the ammo was all over the place as for specification and some would fit the chamber and some wouldn't which is probably why it is still a hand loading
only option to get ammo.
I was looking to buy one when I had my 35 Whelen AI built, to many reports that the Weatherby rifles chambered for it where problematic.
