A Wolf Hunt in the Western US?

Idaho had one season, then got shut down by a judge.

Hopefully there will be open seasons on wolves in several states soon! I'd love a chance to whack a big ol' wolf and hang the pelt on my wall! :grin:
 
I'm with everyone on this I would love to get a wolf. I think if i got one I would get a full body mount of it jumping with its teeth bared and put it by my front door. Maybe the mother in law would stay away :grin:
 
Count me in! Killing a wolf would be akin to killing another good bull elk! Scotty
 
People dream of hunting Africa and Alaska, of shooting Stone Sheep in BC or Ibex in Mongolia.... I dream of shooting wolves.... seriously, wolves are #1 on my list of stuff to shoot in my lifetime.....
 
Same here SD. I had one within 35-40 yards for 30 minutes while bear hunting a few years ago. Took alot of will power not to down him, knowing how many elk/deer it would eat in its life. Scotty
 
Be pretty nice to be able to buy a wolf tag this year! One of those pelts would look pretty nice in my reloading room. Scotty
 
Hopefully this works. It was about a 90lb female and I think it was the 13th one killed.

She's a dandy, about the size the last one I shot with my hunting partner. Ours was black, however. There is a strong tendency to melanism here in the north.
 
There are quite a few black wolves around here as well. I've seen 3 or 4 in the last couple years.

I wasn't aware of that. As I've moved farther north, I noticed a higher incidence of black wolves. My impression was that farther south they were less common. However, I don't know where your original stock of wolves came from. If they were taken farther north here in BC, you would have likely included the genetic load to ensure that incidence. I find both the back and the grey to make handsome mounts, nevertheless.
 
Nice wolf. I just checked with Montana FWP and I was told that WOLF tags for Montana will probably go on sale starting the first part of August sometime so it looks like we are having a season again this year! I'm tickled and sure would like to get one. I'll pack my predator call with me every time I go out deer or elk hunting. I think it would be cool to call one in!
