I'd be interested to know which bullet has a lower terminal velocity need for expansion.

I have a very accurate load for my .308 using the 165 AccuBond bullet (regularly shoots 5 bullets under an inch @ 300yds) but wonder if they will expand at extended range. Would the Partition be better for longrange if the accuracy was the same?

I could just switch to the B-Tips but I like the stoutly constructed bullets which tend to ensure penetration if a poor angle is presented.

Both the AB and the PT will expand down to 1800 fps impact velocity.
For deer sized game, including black bear, the 165 gr AB is all you need.
You have an accurate load, I wouldn't change a thing.

All right fellers.... I bought 150 partitions, now what do I do?
HA HA. Yo... do you think 24 dollars for 50 PREMIUM bullets is a good deal?

What's next?
Did I understand correctly this is for a .270 Winchester?

Now you work up to max H4831/H4831sc. I've had good luck with both CCI 200 and WMRP primers. Max will very depending on your brass and primer selection.

My old elk load for the .270 win was:
150gr Nosler Partition
Win Brass
WMRP
59gr H4831.

This load is very warm, and too hot for federal/Remingtion/nosler or other non-winchester brass. I'd suggest starting around 55 grains and working up.

I guess you missed the HA HA.... but I'l keep your load in mind. I use H4831 and CCI 200 and usaully fed. brass.

Would you post load data for the 150 PT from Nosler #3?

Yep, missed the HA, HA.... :?
The old Nosler #3 didn't show H4831 with the 150gr bullet, but Hodgdon's #26 shows a a starting load of 54.5gr, and max load of 58 grains. 58gr was my max with Remington brass (Rem brass is thicker, and builds pressure quicker).

Hopefully the partitions will shoot for you. If not the 140gr AB is a great alternative.

Dang, and it's getting real close to Bear season. And with this rain here
I got to get to the range. Cut it real close.... 23, 24 25 November P.A.
Bear season.

Can you post #26

The Hodgdon manual is a little more generic in it's data then some others. It list the bullet weight (no brand) and make no mention of brass or primers used. For the 270, it does specify a 26" barrel.
Starting load was 54.5gr H4831 with a velocity of 2810,
Max load was 58 grains with a velocity of 3015.

I have the magazines by H. H annual manuals. They list bullet weights and manufatures. But I guess yours doesn't.

I have the actual 800 page manual....they just give one weight and lump 'em all together.

Can you scan the page on a post?

These Partitions are on the money as far as weight... 150. I weighed Hornady and speer and they were way off. I reweighed Nosler and they were right on and the diameter also. Man I'm sold. :!:   I shot 243 Nosler PT and the were very consistant shooting considering the stock sporter barrel.

Longranger, I took the partations to Africa. shot all my game with them from Impala to Kudu and all the stuff inbetween. I never recovered a round and didn't go far for any of them animals. I like them a lot, but I also like Abonds also. They are newer to me and I'm still working up loads for them.
