Adding a 260 Remington to the safe

I didn’t know it was available in an AR either, thanks for the heads up! But I live in NY state so it’s just easier to go with a bolt gun (though I do have one AR in 5.56 as a night rig for predators and one in 300 blackout for youth hunters to use, they’re just….New Yorkified)
might not find 1 in a fully built or just a complete upper, but there are many mfgr's that offer 260 for ar's. i'll add a pic later.

I was asked why I wouldn’t get a “more common” cartridge, my reply is that I like to be different (and this way, no one at camp can ask me for ammo lol!)
Welcome aboard👍

A new addition to the gun safe is always a plus.

When it comes to being a bit different , I’m king of that. I have no worries of someone bumming ammo off of me when hunting. I’m possibly the only person in my entire state that hunts with some of my calibers😁

Some family and I went up to camp for a week, one cousin only brought 2 rounds for his 30-30......he missed both shots haha. Ammo is expensive and I wasn't loading for the caliber at the time.

And welcome aboard from a fellow NY’er!

Never had a 260, but there is still time left in the day.
If you don't mind my asking, where about are you from? I'm a bit north of Syracuse and hunt up around Pulaski a lot.

There are some real gentlemen posting here, and one or two cantankerous old coots. We've been blessed with some fine ladies, as well. Don't let the gentlemen know when you're thinking about puttng another firearm in the safe, however. They can spend your money faster than you can earn it.😉

Welcome aboard. The 120 -140 grain Ballistic Tips are a great combo for your 260 along with the 143 ELD-X. I used 120 Ballistic Tips for my 6.5 Creedmoor years ago on a red stag cow, dropped right there. When I bought the 6. 5 Creedmoor and the 6.5 x 284, I fell in love with those flat shooting 6.5's. I bought a large stash of Ballistic Tips in 120's and 140's for hunting, but haven't tested with the 140's yet. I have been using the 140 Berger Hybrids with it on steel for fun, but its not for hunting. As for the 6.5 x 284, it currently uses the 143 ELD-X and been hitting .4 MOA or better out to 800 yards on 10 inch steel when i tested it. I need to put it on some deer soon.

My daughter has been shooting a .260 Rem for about 14yrs now and the only bullet she uses is the Sierra 120gr Pro Hunter. We started out with the 120gr BT but there was a time when that bullet almost became extinct so we had to find something else, so we went with the Sierra which was available at the time. I honestly think that the Sierra and Nosler's performance mirrors each other in that caliber and grain and both are very good in the .260. I purchased about 10 boxes when i bought them so she's set for many years to come. She only hunts deer and coyotes here and the Pro hunter has performed excellent on both and is very accurate with H4350. Good luck with the .260 i have no doubt you'll love it.
