I am not sure if anyone has heard this supposedly there has been big demand increase in Coyote fur :).
They are predicting that pelts will average between 100.00 & 200.00 (Canadian Hey ) this winter.
I do believe that I will be dusting off my 204 and the call

Blessings,
Dan

Wow, I may need to buy that 223 Rem soon :) or if the new 260 Rem ever comes in find a way to make a fur friendly load for it, 85 gr Sierra or something else?

Hmmmmm. I may have to get serious about predator hunting this winter. Wolf pelts are still at a premium in this area.

Yikes! $100-200? I quit skinning them and just left them once the price got down to $30 or so. Just not worth the effort and expense to skin, scrap and haul to the buyer. I may have to start all over again once the snow flies. I did see one in the mountains here in Colorado a couple of weeks ago that looked really well haired up. Maybe this is going to be a hard winter?

Cattlemen in our area are reporting fifteen percent losses to wolves from this spring to the present time. They are begging for them to be thinned out. The last time there was a provincial thinning of the wolf population, Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd society camped out (forty yards off the highway) to scare away hunters. I always thought it would be funny should he actually encounter some of these puppies. I know for a fact that they are decimating ungulate populations in some of the mountain valleys I have hunted for the past decade. I dunno', maybe we could ship a few more down to the Lower Forty-Eight. There seem to be a number of people down there that want to adopt these critters.

Al, a few dozen wolves in SC would look good! Think how happy some of the greenies would be!

I remember Paul Watson and his like, there just aren't any words to really describe them. Awful and evil aren't enough. In our area between the wolves, heavy snows and uncontrolled native hunting ungulates are few and far between. I would like to take out a few wolves this winter, my wife bought us both some backcountry skis there are a few valleys I would like to visit and see what we can come up with :)

I love the news but what's your source?

NAFA, FFG, FMF are all predicting flat to slightly higher prices on long-haired wild fur and very strong demand for short haired furs such as mink, muskrat and shearable beaver.

I expect the midwest drought to REALLY drive rat, mink and fisher/marten prices up this year. Hope you're right on yodelers, we've got lots of them.

I think a few of the tree huggers in Washington should adopt a wolf, to go with the cats and dogs!

I don't know why some people feel the need to get in other people's business. I have a half german shepherd, half mexican grey wolf (farm dog), and I love that dog, but that doesn't make me want to try to stop people from hunting wolves to protect livestock and other personal property. Do what you all gotta do!

It was announced early this week by fur traders stating strong prices in Europe & Southeast Asia for coyote fur trim.

Blessings,
Dan

I need to get some more .224 64 gr BSB bullets for my 22-250 and do some calling this winter.
