Went out for a 4th trip w/ the Roy last night. I'd reported previously about my experimentation w/ 100 gr tipped monometals:

and that continued.

Here is the target I started last time. These are all 100 gr TTSXs w/ RL22. The center group is the one I ran last time @ 70 gr, and that charge was repeated in lower left last night. Upper right is 71, & lower left 72. I'm reasonably certain that I pulled the last shot in the bottom left.

This is a repeat of the 70 gr RL22 & 100 gr ETip that performed so well last time.

I put the loaded cartridge & bullets in the pics to show how deeply I'm seating the bullets (3.12") and how beautiful these projectiles, particularly the ETip, really are.

I can't wait to see how they perform on game!

Unfortunately I didn't have the right light for running the chrono but I will soon. I'm interested in hearing whether y'all have gotten best velocities from RL22 or 7828?

Thanks again for lookin',

Wow great shooting and man those loads look excellent. Hard to not like that Weatherby! Sounds like you have a few great shooting loads. Congrats. Scotty

Good deal man. I will be starting soon on the e-tips and my bee.....

Those are some fine loads, that's for certain. The more I shoot the E-Tip, the more I like it.

That Roy would have been ideal for Panda! From your targets, I can see why you would like that particular rifle.

That chunk out of Poe's left leg in the second-to-last pic was from the Roy & a 117 gr interlock.

I was amazed at how durable that Pandabear was! He could suck up some shots!!!

In all seriousness, I've got an old buddy from high school who lives in Alaska and has invited me up for a coastal black bear hunt. I'm thinking I'm going to bring my 338-06 AI & the Roy w/ 100 gr monometals.

I just traded my Bushnell 3200 10x for a Burris FFII 3-9x40mm w/ ballistic plex. I have one on my lightweight '06 and had an issue (caused by me) that was resolved to my extreme satisfaction w/ Burris so I've kinda become a fan of theirs.

Thanks again all,

efw
