Sort of a spin-off from ldg's "Perfect Pair of Model 70s" thread...
I decided I had to have another of these rifles to go with my .270 Featherweight, and under the kind auspices of members from this forum, I settled on a .338 Winchester. As with the Featherweight, fit and finish are excellent and the grain in the stock is outstanding. This pair of cartridges, with the .30-06 nestled in between, ought to nicely cover the western hemisphere.
I have a VX-II that will go on it, and have a box each of 180 ABs and 210 PTs to work with. However, with 9 credits this semester evenings after work and on weekends, it may be later this summer before I have a chance to do much with it.
