Any AR-10 users out there?

I just ordered a DPMS 308-LR; it has a 24" bull barrel. They are reputed to be very accurate rifles. I bought it for longer-range screwin' around, pretty much, to take the load off my beloved hunting rifles. I like to shoot a lot! Hopefully, it'll be accurate enough to be interesting, as they say.

It should get here next week. I've got some various stuff loaded up to try, including 150-gn Ballistic Tips and 165-gn BT's, as well as some 165-gn Interbonds that I had around. I tried two different powders, Varget and RL15, and used Federal 210 primers. Ballistic Tips are on a good sale right now locally so hopefully it'll like one or the other BT load and I'll go stock up.

I'll have to put a crappy scope on it at first for financial reasons; I'm a successful but relatively new real estate agent and have to be careful with my dough... you never know where the next one is coming from. I have a Tasco 3x9 I won at a raffle that hopefully will work OK for a while. I plan on using some Leupold QRW rings that I also have around (the DPMS has a raised Picatinny rail machined into the reciever so I shouldn't need those high-rise rings you see on AR's).

Any thoughts on what might be a good, reasonably price scope to put on it in the longer run? The gunshop has a Leupold VX-II 6x18 Target for $389 that looks pretty interesting. If the Tasco just doesn't work, I'll trade a rifle for that scope or pull a good scope off one of my hunting guns.

I will upgrade the trigger group at the first opportunity, too. The J-P looks good. I'm not sure if Jewell makes one they recommend for an AR-10; I'll have to look at that as I love the Jewell's in my hunting guns.

Any thoughts or advice anyone has are much appreciated! I've messed with AR-15's a couple times over the years but this is my first "target" AR, plus it's an AR-10.
