Any plans for a new rifle in 2025?

It looked a bit different so looked into a bit more, its not just your ordinary 1911, did you know what it was when you got it?
I did know what I was looking for. Quite honestly the best deal I’ve made on a gun in a long time. Older guy who had acquired quite a collection of guns he didn’t use. Thinning the herd to buy just a couple of top end guns I was told. I don’t believe the gun was ever fired.

The magazines are supposed to hold 8 rounds, I was lucky to get 7 in them, only 2 came with the gun. There are magazines available, probably pick up just a couple more. Given the ample mag well I also need thicker pads on the bottom of the mags. With the thin ones getting the magazines to fully seat was not automatic. I lucked out on a holster as the new pistol fits quite snugly in a near 30 year old Galco holster I have for my Springfield 1911. I’ve read people have had difficulty getting the Sigs to fit in a standard 1911 holster given the beefier slide. I was thinking about replacing the holster anyway as my Springfield was feeling kinda loose.
The trigger on this thing had me saying “wow” after the first magazine, minimal take up and a crisp break but not too light. The sights are Dawson Precision and are probably the best set of sights my old eyes have tried to use in a long time. They are not night sights so the pistol will not get night stand duty and otherwise I’m rarely out after dark and in bed by about 2100.
I’ve never used a high end 1911 like an Ed Brown or similar. This pistol is a definite step up from the Springfield TRP I’ve owned for years or my recently acquired Kimber. What I’m really worried about now is going through all that 40 cal I have stashed in the shop.

Gotta like it when you find a gem like that!
Even better when it is a great deal to boot!

Kimber used to offer a thicker magazine pad as an accessory...not sure if they still do. Might be an option for you.
Which Galco holster is it that fits your new Kimber? I need a good holster for mine, although yours looks like it is for the 4" barrel???

Picked up my first Weatherby, a Mark V Accumark in 257 Weatherby. While not a rifle, I also got a Mossberg 835 Turkey which I bloodied this past weekend. I haven't shot the Weatherby yet but will soon.

I'm probably going to trade off the beautiful 7mm Rem mag, Winchester Model 70 Super Grade for something else. Much as I like the Model 70, I already have a Ruger Number One in 7mm Rem Mag that I like better. Both shoot well. I just like the falling block more. Might trade it for a 357 or 44 or 45 lever action Marlin or Henry. Those seem like a lot of fun.

Regards, Guy

There was a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem at our local Cabela’s yesterday for $579 I think it was. Call the Centerville OH Cabela’s and they would ship it to your local store. It was in really good shape. I almost bought it.
