Anybody looking f or a 7/08?

I just shot this rifle on Sunday it's been over a year since I bought it. I shot some test loads of the Tipstrike and Vulcan bullets. I was set up around 50 yards the new scope I mounted was not bad at all the windage was dead on but was shooting high about 10 inches. Got it set with some lower powder loads of Tipstrike bullets took only 3 rounds I did not see where the first shot went it caught the top of the target so I had to aim lower to set my zero on the third shot. At 50 I was hitting almost all the test loads in under an inch and this was just testing velocity and seeing what the cases looked like.

My last shots were the 170 grain Vulcan I used 44.2 grains URP as max load but the Norma site says I can go to 44.4 grains now my test shows about 100 fps less than what the Norma site has as speed but the Steyr is a short barrel and they likely use a 26 inch barrel as testing also their site does not say what kind of brass or primer to get to their numbers. I had no issues with the brass it looks fine I can increase a little more. The Vulcan opens easily as it is soft nose and has a lock ring at the base to try to keep it together should be a good bullet for deer. This will be a blind gun I have a 5X5 blind and some of my other rifles the long barrel makes it kind of harder to aim from a smaller blind. As of now the top velocity was 2570FPS if I go to 44.4 grains I think I will hit 2600FPS which will be fine with this quick opening bullet and close range woods hunting. My last load I decided to take my time to shoot even with barrel warm I had less than 1/2 inch group this was all test rounds 3 per test. Now I will load more rounds at 44.4 grains and test further out but most of my shots will be under 100 yards. I can't see past that to thick in the woods only some shots into the near farm field will be 100 if I take the shot.

Scope is a Crimson Trace Hardline pro illuminated I bought from Amazon last December for under $300 it seems fine I won't know how good it is until I see how it works in low light situations. I may do other powders but I think I want to try this rifle hunting this year. I now have a close set up will need to retest if I go 44.4 grains and then shoot at 100 yards. Now Steyr has a Pro Hunter 3 must be why the Pro 2 was on sale last year no complaints from me I'll take 1/2 off all the time.
