When I saw the title of this thread, I thought this was an introduction to some new exotic species that would require another specialised cartridge. I was rather eager to read what was written, believing it would provide the excuse I needed to restock my armory.

Probably should take up mushroom hunting; it might prove more productive than some of the hunting I've done for the past couple of years. My mycology courses during university days focused more on saccharomyces cerevisiae and related yeasts in the production of alcohol, giving only a cursory glace at the assorted mushrooms.

Doc, Just because you don't need a new gun to hunt the shrooms, doesn't mean you dont need one to protect yourself while you are in the woods gathering them

Those look like the king bolete ones we have gathered for years here in Wyo, EXCEPT king bolete don't have gills - they have spores! Not sure what these leatherbacks are. Bolete were the only ones we were taught to gather and consume from our woods around the cabin. They are really good if you can catch them at the right time and beat the elk, deer, squirrels and chipmunks to the harvest!

We only had moral and beefsteak mushrooms here. Nice meaty mushrooms fried in butter is one of the best things you can eat.
Nice harvest.
