Anyone have field experience with the 170gr PT RN?

I was wondering if anyone has had any field experience with the 170gr PT in a 30-30. I've heard elsewhere that they don't expand well at 30-30 velocities.

I shot two pigs with it out of a 308. My muzzle velocity was 2500fps. The accuracy was acceptable, 3 shot groups between 1.5" and 2" at 100yd but not as good as this gun shoots. The distance that I shot the pigs was around 100yds, maybe a little less. I found them to be pretty explosive at that range, but penetrated and exited both shoulders on one pig. The next pig was shot throurh the brisket, and exited the off shoulder. Al in all, pretty bloody. I know that this bullet was made for the 30-30 at MV around 2150, and might load some down closer to that, but a 165 PT works about perfect at 2600. capt david :grin: :grin: :grin:
