Anyone try the 6.5mm 100 gr Partition on game yet? I tried them years ago in my original 260 Rem but couldn't get good accuracy. Did a bullet test with RL 15 going 3250 fps it was a real tough little bugger. Would like to try them in my BLR 260 and 264 WM. In the 264 WM it should be able to get 3500-3600 fps, that would be a real flat shooting load!

I think I am going to give then a try in my 6.5mm Rem Mag next spring.

According to the Nosler manual you should be able to get 3500-3600 fps as well.

My family has been contemplating a hog hunting trip somewhere early spring. My wife really wants to stick one as does my son, however he's just not big enough yet in my opinion to take one with his bow. I've really been eye-ing the 100gr Partition for him - thinking it would be a great little round out of the .260.

I have always thought it would be a slammer in a 260. Pretty much turning it into a 25-06. I would like to test one in jugs with the 264 as well. Talk about a torture test. Scotty

Shot the 120 BT's on game at 3400 fps from my 264 Win. They did well.

I did get 3600 fps from the 100 gr Pts but the bt's were more accurate in my sendero 264.

Went to JBM ballistics and punched in the 100 gr Pt @ 3500 fps when zeroed in at 250 yards it's only 2.8" low at 300 and 12.5" at 400. You would be able to hold dead on all the way out to 300 and hold on the spine out to 400 8) The more I think about it I need to try them out :) hopefully they will shoot well.

Could probably hold dead on to over 350 yards with that load 8)

Just ordered some of the 100 gr Pt's today along with 100 Lapua 260 Rem brass so look forward to trying them in the next few weeks :) The Lapua brass sure is pricey but is supposed to be of high quality and should last a long time. Looking at powders listed in Nosler's book I have H 4350 and Big Game on hand for the 260 as for the 264 WM I have H 4831 SC and will see what data I can come up with for Retumbo and Magnum. Should be fun haven't worked up a load in anything since summer.

If I may,

my favorite .264WM load has always been the 125 gr. Nosler Partition bullet. From my old Westerner it would clock 3300 with 68.0/H4831, going into an inch @ 100yds. Actual targets provided drop figures of +2.5" @ 100, zero @ 200, -3" @ 300. Thats pretty flat, I think  !

I had throated it to use this bullet to 3.380" oal. A friend use it to take a huge Montana big-horn ram @ over 400 yds, with a complete pass-thru hit.

Just my $0.02, thanks

Jim

Classic performance, Jim. Yesterday I picked up a few boxes of Partitions for a couple of my 6.5s. I'm loading for my .260 Remington and a 6.5 Creedmoor. I'll be focusing on Partitions as I want to ensure that they penetrate when I tackle game with either of these rifles.

Yup, the recovered PT always looks the same. They are accurate, penetrate deep and just plain kill game.
Next year, I will load the 125 gr PT in my 6.5mm Rem Mag and use it for crop damage deer hunting.
