Anyone use the WC powders

Hello all;
Saw some of these and realize this is "pull-down" powder from cannon or other military specs and wondered if any of you have used these for loading?
Saw WC 857, 860, 870 and 872 and also an IMR 7383 which I hadn't seen before.
Any opinions?

Were they offered in Canada, you may be certain that I would be using them. Surplus powders was the way in which Bruce Hodgdon got his start.

They work ok BUT one big fly in the ointment is lot to lot constancy varies quite a bit.

Thanks.
Are there "similar to" or comparison powders to use for load data that you have found to use for starting load numbers?

Yes. Alot of it.
WC872 gives me 3350 fps with a 130 NAB out of my 264 and drives a 162 Hornady BTSP at 3400 out of my 7STW.

Lot to lot consistency? Dunno ordered 16 lbs of it and am still on the first ( nearly empty now ) jug.

H870 and AA8700 load data are real close to WC872 and that's the data I started with.
Keep an eye out at Weidner's. Sometimes 8 lbs is $39.00.....

Exactly 16 lbs would last a long time! :mrgreen:

with WC 872 and 868 you use hodgdon H870 data, to start, mine ran very dirty so I went up till it was just sooty. go to www.gibrass.com and click powder, he has some info pertaining to the burn rates of most of what you listed.
