thanks DRMike,,,, i was talking to some guys and they said that load was to lite,, my speer #14 shows start load is 7.1 and max is 7.9 now this is with there bullet 124gr GDHP ,, why such a big difference in powder wieght ???
i have'nt had any problems with cycling with 6.1 of bluedot (SR-9 4") i just want to be sure im not under loading
The differences can be accounted for by a variety of factors (intangibles). Undoubtedly, the two tests used different lot numbers of powder. Also, there is a difference in the primers used (CCI500 vs WSP), which can contribute to differences. The bigger issue would be the differing bearing surface of the two bullets. All major bullet manufacturers test their loads to ensure safety. It is wise to heed the manuals unless you know what you are doing to avoid a nasty surprise, or even to avoid loss of case life due to higher pressures than are required for effective shooting.
