Nothing extraordinary.

Built 40, 30-06 cartridges with the 165 Nosler Ballistic Tip over 59 grains of H4350. That's a max load according to Hodgdon and has proven quite successful from my rifle. It averages out about 2940 fps, with single digit SD. Elk. Black Bear. Antelope. Mule Deer... My usual load anymore.

And only five 7mm Rem mag cartridges.

Using the 140 gr Nosler AccuBond, Reloader 22, Federal 215 magnum-match primers, WW cases. Am looking for 3200+ fps and one MOA accuracy from the Number One.

52gr of 4064. That will net us 2925 fps from our
rifle.
I have found; like you, that is an amazing loading for
this caliber. I prefer the SST for deer, but also think the
AccuBond is a stellar performer on Moose.
Again if taking long pokes at an ELK, I doubt if there
Is anything better than the ABLR's......
Still hard to get ahead of the old 06, even after 117 years!

Right now I'm running 180's with H4350 in my 06. This summer I'm gonna work up a load with the 165"s. H4350 seems to be a great fit in the old 06.

That is a classic load for the '06 and it sure has a proven track record.
I believe you are on the right track with the 7mm Rem Mag. RL22 is a great powder and 65.0-66.0 grs should get you to 3200+ fps that you are looking for.

I too use H4350 in my 06 but with 150 gr PT. Guy when I had my 7mag it liked RL22 with the 140 gr AB and was a good performer on deer here in WV. Dan.

I need to give that load a try. One of those older loads that I always hear people say shoots excellent.

Good loads all around for a great cartridge. That 52 grains of 4064 also works very well with 150's. It runs a close second to my accuracy load in 06 and does it with substantial more velocity.

58 Grains of H4350 with 168 Grain Ballistic Tips at 2934 fps average velocity was the load used in the Nosler M48 Custom 30-06 I sold to my hunting partner last year. He shot a 4 round group into about .41 inches. Craig harvested a big cow on a Ranching For Wildlife hunt here in Colorado last November at 440 yards. It was a complete pass through both lungs on a broadside shot with no wind.

It's a sweet shooting rifle. I shot several 5 round groups under .5 inch using 58 grains of Ramshot Hunter with a 180 grain AccuBond with the rifle and killed cow elk with them b4 I sold it to him. The range was only about 125 yards though.

Bruce - I've got some 180's loaded with Ramshot Hunter that I need to chronograph. According to you and John Barsness, it's one heck of a combination. I bought a couple of pounds of Hunter based on an article of his, and have loaded some, I just haven't taken them to the range yet for a test.

And yes, 58/59 grains of H4350 with a 165/168 gr bullet is quite a combination. Good velocity, good accuracy.

Like Earl I run 52.5 grains of 4064 behind a 150 grain ballistic tip. Haven’t changed the recipe in well over 20 years I would guess.
I run 62 grains of reloader 22 behind my 180 gr. Partitions.
I keep my 06 zeroed +2 with the 150s. When elk season rolls around the 06 is on full standby. I add 4 clicks elevation, gets me 2 inches high with a confirmation shot.
Simple and effective.

Salmonchaser, the 06 I run that 4064 load in is short throated so bullets are seated deeper than normal. That along with Remington cases has me just flirting with cratered primers at 52 grains, never pushed it beyond that. Not the best shooting load I can come up with using 150's, but that load averages 3/4" in that gun and nets me in the 2930 area with most cup and core bullets out of a 22" barrel. Speers run behind that at 2895 average. But the fact that top end 4064 load has worked so well over the years in so many 06's makes it a hard load to argue against.

IMR4064 at 53 grains was a mainstay with my 06’s and 150’s. Also a lot of IMR 4350. Now I run a 280 Remington and IMR4831 and RL26 fills the shelf along with RL15 for my soon to be 35 Whelen. The 30-‘06 is one of those cartridges that will shoot well with almost any powder though. There were times where I thought full case of dried horse apple and a CCI 200 primer would bug hole 150’s at 100 yards.
