Just to clarify, I do have a couple of pictures but I'm not technology inclined so outside of sending them in a phone message/text I don't know what to do with them.
Twenty hours of driving landed us in WY.
We looked at a BLM campsite and said, "No Thanks." That decision was sparked by the three individuals already camped there and staggering around drunk in the early afternoon. So, we drove out to the ranch we were thinking of hunting on and paid to camp there. Great decision!
The wind was excessive for the five days we were there. "Extreme Weather Advisory" for three of those days if I recall correctly. Everything the two of us put a bullet in came home with us. That is not to say their weren't a couple of misses though due to the wind and reading it.
Doe Fawn Tag: 160 Yards Offhand One Shot
Doe Fawn Tag: 175 Yards Offhand Two Shots
Either Sex Tag: 300 Yards Prone One Shot
Doe Fawn Tag: 200 Yards Offhand Three Shots (first shot significantly blown by wind)
Doe Fawn Tag: 200 Yards Standing Supported One Shot
I've got meat in the freezer and while we didn't see represenative size bucks or what my hunting partner says are average size herds we had fun and filled our tags. We hunted hard over four days and filled our goal of meat. My buck was a small one, horn size, but given the conditions and my primary goal, as well as the lack of antelope seen in the unit we hunted compared to other units I'll claim him with pride.
The 25/06 did well but I think next time I'll use a different caliber with a heavier bullet. My buck was taken with a 270 WSM and seeing the results of mine, and my hunting partners two antelope, quicly convinced me of the caliber.
All in all seven antelope were taken and I will be planning to go back to WY just as soon as I can for another antelope hunt. That will likely be in two years.
