Ballistic Tip "Re-Design"

Lately I have seen several people talk about a re-design of the Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet to make it tougher. When did this re-design take place and in what calibers? Just curious as I have some older b-tips packaged 100 per box in cals .270, 7mm, and .30 cal. Is this something you can tell by lot #?
