Could someone please tell me the difference between the ballistic tip and the silver ballistic tip? I have always used the ballistic tip for hunting but would like more information (practical) on the silver tip. Thanks, Mike

Aside from the color of the tip, the only functional difference between the two is the Lubalox coating on the silver tip. It is supposed to act as a lubricant when shooting, I think. As for on game performance, the two are constructed identically. That's the difference. Oh, and the silvers are more expensive.

Nosler builds bullets for Winchester under the CT (Combined Technologies) name.
The CT Slivertip is the basic Nosler Ballistic Tip but with a Red Polycarbonate tip and the Lubalux coating. Other than that, same exact bullet.
Both the BT and the CT Silvertip are designed to expand at impact velocities of 3000-1600 fps.

I think there is a slight difference in the jacket at the base of the bullet

Same basic bullet as explained above.
