Ballistics Room for 308 Win

So when I enter the ballistics room and select 30 cal I'm presented with a list of bullet weights. I select 180 Grain under 300 Savage / 308 Winchester / 30-06 Springfield. Then I'm only given 30-06 loads. Is there no way for me to get 308 load data from the web site? I actually tried to put 54 grains of W760 into a 308 and found it to hit flush with the top of the neck. Its a good thing the load looked so ridiculous!

Please be careful and don't load 308 cases with 30-06 charges! I'm glad the load looked ridiculous, or we might not be laughing right now.

The Nosler site is a little under-developed as far as load data goes, with many cartridges listed in the left column, but without load data in the right column. Just spring for the #5 Manual, only about $20 or so, and you'll have all the Nosler bullet data you need.

Nosler hasn't got all those cartridges flushed out yet w/info - but I'm sure they will in time. Meanwhile in addition to good printed manuals, there are some excellent sources on line.

The single best article on loading the .308 that I've ever seen is at 6mmBR.com here's the link http://www.6mmbr.com/308Win.html

Also - you can go to http://www.hodgdon.com and look up their reloading data - very impressive amount of data these days, with both Hodgdon and IMR powders.

Hodgdon also has a "magazine style" manual they put out every year or two, for less than $10 with a whole mess of loads, including dozens for the .308 Winchester.

Alliant has a pretty fair web site with load data too.

I like to keep a few hardcover manuals around, but the powder & bullet companies are getting quite a bit of the data on line these days.

Regards, Guy

We're working on the ballistics room as we speak. Sorry for the inconvenience but we're trying to get up to date and consistent with the new book that will be out this year.
