So my Grandson got the bear.
He’d seen this bear a few times during bow elk season. At least once close enough he thought he would get a shot.
The other evening he was hunting in a clearcut canyon and had hiked down a ridge to the bottom looking for a buck he’d seen during bow season.
On his way back out he looked back down behind him and spotted the bear about 200 yards below him.
He hiked a little further to get on a stump for a good shot but there was some brush in the way.
He moved over on the ridge and set up on his pack.
Hit it first shot and the bear started rolling down the hill. He hit it twice more before the bear rolled down a steeper part out of sight.
He called his dad and uncle and they all went down in the dark.
In the dark he couldn’t pinpoint exactly where it was but they finally found a lot of blood and were able to make a recovery.
He isn’t sure where the first shot hit but all indications look like he hit it three times.
Shooting 300 Win mag with 165 grain bullets, but I’m not sure what brand he was using.

Very good!

Yes, those bears will often roll downhill when shot. Congrats to the young hunter.
