Benchrest rifle?

My buddy and I built a single shot 460 Weatherby to shoot bears with over bait. It had a 1.25" straight 28" long barrel. We use to shoot 300gr Cutting Edge bullets we modified to basically break apart. We use to shoot them at 3400fps. It was wicked on bears. We also did a 500 A-Square.

I do have a 460 reamer for such project. I wanted to do a single shot 460 for some time.

If I was to do it again from the beginning I'd probaby do it on a 37XC case for better brass. I still have the barrel and action (currently on a 30-338 Lapua Imp) so it would be easy to bring it back to life. I shot a bear in the neck shoulder junction with that gun as it climbed on the bait barrel. It literally made the bear like a blob of Jello as it slid down the hill. Pretty impressive performance.

When looking closely there are ring marks on the scope. It also shows action movement marks on the V-block in the stock. I think this rifle was fired a few times.
Broke 4 of them on my 378 Bee......Honest!
My Mark 4 on the 30-378 has had a couple of overhauls by Leupold.

It's kind of like the old Vari X III's. Some would dial consistently and other's were a POS. I really like the VX6 3x18 scopes for hunting rifles but they are really screwing up not offering more than 10 MOA, in 1 MOA increments in the reticle on the TMOA scopes. They could easily do 25 MOA. I don't have complete confidence in their dials but try to use the reticle rather than dial. I just bought a Leica Amplus 6 3x18 to try. The downer is they are only available in 44mm objective. The optics are crazy clear so it's weather I like the reticle thickness and weather the dials work. I don't like the capped windage dials but you rarely use that once it's set. I'll probably buy another and put them on my kids guns.
