What sort of big game oddities have you run in to while hunting? Albino, piebald, melanistic?
I’ve seen piebald deer from the highway but never while hunting. The only melanistic animal I’ve ever seen were muskrats.

I've seen a black coyote while hunting but couldn't get a shot. I have trail cam pics of a tiny piebald doe but never saw her in person. I've seen an albino doe in the back of a neighborhood around where I live, shes kind of famous.

I saw a piebald doe once. It was pretty cool.
My wife watched a 1 1/2 year old buck mount another 1 1/2 year old buck. The funny thing is we got it on one of the game cameras.

I seen an Albino buck while hunting. It wasn't completely random as there was a lot of talk he was in the area (he stuck out like a sore thumb hahaha). He walked in on me and was within 50 yard. I felt like some great Indian Chief was looming in the air and years of bad jew jew would be upon me for taking him. I looked at him through the scope but made the decision to not shoot him. A few days later, a younger guy on the other side of the mountain from me took him.

On my last bull nilgai hunt in January 2025, we have seen two albino nilgai. I was not interested in harvesting them, they were a pretty sight to see. One of the bulls had all 4 legs covered in white hair up to the shoulders and thighs, while the rest of the body was black haired. The older alpha male bull was spooked and ran across the road pretty quick and was not able to take a picture of it and it was too far away. It was white, almost completely. The owner had mentioned that they bought the albino bull for 30 grand to mate with his cow nilgai, and had it tranquilized and transported by helicopter to the ranch. I may have a picture of the white legged bull somewhere in my computer or my external hard drive. Hopefully I find it and post it here.
On another deer hunt about 8 years ago, I had seen an albino buck, it was young and went on its way. It was a rare sight to see.
