Black Bears

Headed out this afternoon for a little range time with Lori. Want her to shoot her 25-06 and 444 a little more, just to make sure when Mr. Big steps out, she feels very comfortable giving him the business!

Not much better than a berry bear.

The only thing better than that is one that has been stuffed full of jelly filled doughnuts! Nothing compares to a bear that has had a steady diet of sweets for a couple of months.

Bear hunting has me hooked for life but lately trying to run bait stations on my own 4 hrs from home has me a little burned out.

I do try to break the shoulders to anchor the bear

Me too Dr. Mike. I have only been on 3 bear hunts. I am going on my 4th in August. I have done all three methods, spot and stalk in BC, bait in Alberta, and hounds in New Mexico. I have enjoyed each manner of hunting for different reasons. I have used my trusty ol' 7mm-08 for all of them.

This is my bear from last year. It was nice color phase bear.

Great bear!

Beautiful colour, Bob. There appear to be a good number of colour phase bears in New Mexico. We also have a higher incidence of cinnamon and blonde bears in the central interior of BC.

I would get real interested if I came across one like that wearing a nice brown jacket. Never shot a brown phase. Yet.
