Nice job on the goats. I'm hoping to get my load dialed here in the next couple months and start putting it through it's paces on some game myself sooner than later. I'm thinking that it should be a great round for everything up to and including caribou up here.

I have had good luck with the 90 grain bullets and 44.0 to 44.5 grains of IMR7828 SSC. The velocity is pretty high (over 3250 fps) and accuracy has been excellent (<MOA) in both the Browning Medallion and (2) Featherwieght Model 70 Winchester's which I have owned in the past 15 years. IMR 4350 used to be my choice and still yields great accuracy but with 100 fps lower muzzle velocity than IMR 7828 SSC.

Mike I hope it didn't sound like I was bragging :wink: and I would like to try for halibut and those other off coast fish someday . I have caught lake trout a number of times and have been told it would be a similar fight!!

The big halibut are called "barn doors" for a reason, Dan. Lake trout are not noted for their fighting ability (about like walleye), and neither are halibut. However, the halibut do eat well (as do walleye and lakers).

I didn't have a as much luck with H4350 as I did R19 with the heavy bullets in .243. I found that R19 did a better job with the 105g AMAX& Sierra HPBT.

Welcome! I used 42.5 gr. H414 with a different brand of 90 gr. bullet with good success. Mild load in our rifle. The advice and actual info these guys give is top notch. If you haven't seen the kind of data Fotis posted before, study it pretty close. You can develop a pretty good idea what the actual relationships between various powders are. Getting to understand some of the twisted personalities takes a little longer, but it's worth it :lol: :roll: One of the things I like best is the actual respect shown each other, with no flaming, trolling, or bashing going on. By far my favorite forum of any kind!
