Break Free foaming bore cleaner

I just used this for the first time today. What a great product! I found out that the various copper solvents I have historically used are nothing compared to this. I filled the bore, waited 12-15min (as per instructions) and ran patches through until they came out clean and dry. Got the copper out pretty quickly, and the bore looks better than it has since it was new. If you haven't tried it, you certainly should.

What more do you want to know? The first patch came out pretty much nearly navy blue with copper on it. This rifle has never been one that seemed to look or shoot fouled, but it apparently most assuredly was. Anyway, if you have questions, ask them, but the whole story is, I cleaned a gun I thought had just a little powder residue in it from the trip to the range, and found out it was pretty darn copper fouled. I can also attest to that the bore is now clean, as I stated in the first post. Not much more I can add.

I too have used the CLP foaming bore cleaner and it's expensive but it works!!! I have found that it works best if you remove the powder fouling first and then squirt the foam in. After removing the foam from the barrel, I go back with Butches Bore Shine and run a few wet patches through the barrel. This usually removes all traces of fouling (if I have used the cleaner in past cleanings).

If I had one complaint, it is that this stuff is under high pressure and a little goes a long way! I don't like to squirt so much that it runs down into my blind action magazines. Therefore, squirt some and then check for visibility of it in chamber. I usually follow my cleaning up with a patch with light oil and then run a dry patch through. It's great stuff!

Since this is a subject about bore cleaning, I am always open to new ideas or products that I have not used before!!!!.......For years and years, along with my copper removing solvent, I have always used JB Bore Cleaner.......Afterwards, using my inspection light, my rifle bore always has a beautiful mirror shine!!!!!............Is there anyone out there who has considerable experience using JB Bore Cleaner, then switched to something else and have gotten better results??????? If so, please share what you are using now!!!!.........................Big Squeeze!

I haven`t used JBs but I did use Rem Clean for some time. It is an abrasive the same as JB but I`ve heard a bit milder. I still use it when breaking in a barrel as I like the idea of possibly burnishing the bore a bit along with cleaning to start.
I now am sold on Wipe Out though. There are a couple of foam type cleaners out now and I`ve tried Outers, and Forests along with wipeout and they all clean very similar. I do agree a patch with Butches or Shooters Choice to start removing the carbon fouling does seem to help speed the process up. The foams are %#@@ on copper but seem hindered/slowed by lots of carbon.

I took your advice but I could not find break free so I bought outers foaming bore cleaner instead and followed the instructions and it brought my 2506 back to life. I seriously thought I shot the barrel out of it having tried alot of different cleaners. Groups went from 2 1/2 inches to 1/2 . Thanks for the tip, you are my new hero!

WOW!! That is amazing.I have not used this stuff yet,but have thought about it many times.Maybe I should start looking around the gun shops for those "shot-out" rifles and bring them back to life.Looks like I will be heading to Cabela's later tonight.
