I used search but found little. In the 223 using brass trimmed to the RCBS trim minimum of 1.750". When I use the crimp groove as an OAL set point. I get an OAL of 2.170" well under the MAX oal for the standard 223 of 2.260". The problem I come up against. In the standard 223 chamber of my Marlin X7 the 64gr bonded nosler bullet is .040" into the lands. + - While we have read that Nosler brass is trimmed to 1.735" on another thread, even at that length the bullet would be into the lands in my X7. With the bullet designed for military/LE use I can understand the reason It might only fit correctly in .223 Nato spec chambers. As a hunting bullet in standard 223 chambers the Crimp groove can be ignored, But I like to crimp my hunting bullets. Preferably into a correctly located groove. Picking Nits, I know. But what would it take to run some BSB6422 without groove (maybe they do and I have just not seen them) or with a groove set in the location for standard 223 chambers.

I load them in my 22-250 and the cannelure is well above the case mouth. Results have been impressive.

In the Lyman 49th It says a Colt rifle will have approximately a .100 deeper throat than a standard commercial 223 chamber. At least that is what I understand it to say. So AR/mini14 rifles will have no issue with this bullet crimped in the groove with a standard trimmed case. Plenty of free bore in them.

Use a Lee factory crimp die and crimp them wherever you want. A crimp groove is not necessary to use the FCD.
