Bullet Manufacturing Consistency

Last I talked to mike Brady (before he sold the company) he said he was working on a Ballistic tip version of the BC-less NF. Then he sold the company. The bullets cost about a dollar a piece then. What a shame.
I do have to hand it to them though, they will not advertise BC values at all which keeps them in the "this is it take it or leave it" category. Can not argue over no declarations.....

G'Day Fella's,

Bullet, when I first looked at image #1 above, I thought it was a GS Custom bullet (out of RSA/Sth Africa)!
Wrong again. Its OK fella's, I'm getting used to that!
Great looking mushroom! Kind of reminds me of the Aussie made www.woodleighbullets.com.au !!!

Double Doh!!

HomerOZ, I think North Fork has in some ways given us the best of both worlds - A bonded bullet, solid shank and groves for reduced pressure and copper displacement with the added results of better velocities. I call it a souped up Trophy Bonded Bear Claw on steroids.

G'Day Bullet,

Hard to disagree with you on that!

A mate of mine (in Sydney),is the Australian agent for www.gscustom.com.za bullets.
He tells me that the design of the GS Custom bullets has a dramatically reduced Barrel/Land engagement pressure, compared to conventional jacketed bullets!
Because of this, he recommends that you utilise a slightly faster powder than you would, with the same weight bullet of a conventional design!!!

He wants to prepare some equipment, and then come down to my "Funshop" and do some Bullet into Barrel Land pressure tests.
He tells me that a conventional jacketed bullet, requires several thousand PSI to achieve this, where as the GS Custom bullets, require less than 1000psi!
As a result of this, the faster powder recommendation comes about.

Bullet, given that North Fork bullets utilise a similar profile and principle, what is your experience on this?

Doh!
Homer

Yes, some of us are very familiar with the GS Custom bullets. I have done a lot of load work with them when they were easier to get a hold of and yes they reduce pressures and you can move them faster with less powder than conventional bullets or any of the other homogenous bullets. When they finally start making them here in the US as they are planning to I will once again try them because they will be cheaper on shipping and much less time in getting them.

Homer, how much do you use the Woodleighs? They seem like some excellent bullets.

Your just as passionate about things you like as most Greeks I have met

G'Day Fella's,

Bullet, thanks for that! I'm looking forward to having a play with the GSC bullets and their land engagement pressure testing!

SJB358, I purchase a lot of www.woodleighbullets.com.au but don't get to use them as much as I would like! To bloody busy!!!
I have only recently purchased a heap of their Hydro (Hydrostatically Stabilised) bullets, in various calibers. Whilst I would like to get some big game hunting in with them I need to do some testing of these Hydro's at Sub-Sonic velocities, in some of my rifles.
They really are a different bullet but they work! A couple of mates have used them with great success in Africa, on Cape Buff and Elephant!!!

Doh!
Homer

Great post you guys, my learning curve went way up. Homer thanks a lot for the info!!
