I took my grand daughter back to college today and made a side trip to Cabelas since I wanted to see the Leupold 2.5-8X36 and check one out. I walked past the reloading isle and couldn't believe the shelves full of powder. Most of the favorite stand byes and a few exotics like Enduron which the price burnt my fingers and I put it down quick but I did pick up a can of CFE 223 to try in the 35 Imp when I get it back

Powder is abundant in my neck of the woods. Glad to hear that the dealers are stocking their shelves with fresh powders.

Don't mean to put a negative tone on this but I'm coming to the conclusion now that the companies have gotten the powder prices to where they want all of a sudden powder has become available. I'm finding pistol powders are starting to show up again and the prices have gone up 3-4 dollars per one pound can.

It could be that are just a rise in manufacturing cost passed on to the consumer.

The Cabelas here had 4-8 lb jugs of IMR-4831 for a cool $200/jug. The local gun shop 2 miles away...$170/jug.

Could be the LGS had some older stock they were holding back or Cabelas is taking advantage...who knows. Unless their prices align a little more, I won't be buying anymore powder from Cabela's.

We need Cabelas to be like COSTCO - hold the prices down on good stuff.

I was at Cabelas in Buda, Tx couple weeks ago and they had both Norma powder and Vhitavouri. They also had a couple of off brand unprimed brass at a decent price. I was told by an employee that they had all three Enduron powders that morning but all but 4166 were gone by the time I got there a little before noon. I've been able to get a limited amount of powders from my local shop and have been paying a tad over $30 a pound for over a year. I didn't notice Cabelas price being any different then I've been paying all along.

The prices for Hodegon,IMR and Alliant are what I cal normal but the new stuff (Enduron) I considered high compared to everything else and I'm not paying for something that is still unproven for what I shoot.

Cabelas in Grand Rapids has a good selection of powder but at higher prices than where I buy it.

Unfortunately I can't say the same for here in Saskatchewan. I take my once a week trip to Cabelas & Wholesale but there is hardly any powders of any kind and the bullet selection is almost the same .
Sure hope this changes here in the near future!!!

Blessings,
Dan
