Looking for input on calculating engergy ft. lbs as knock-down power, and what amounts of energy ft. lbs are considered minimum for various big game??

Sports Afield has a really good article on ballistics regarding momentum vs. energy. It was written regarding African dangerous game but could be used on just about any tough to kill animal. It hasn't been any secret that bullets with a higher sectional density will penetrate better, but this article sure lends fire to the camp that heavy for caliber slower bullets are sometimes an advantage to speedy light ones. Not starting a debate here, just thought it was a good article worth reading. If you get a chance it is in the August 2007 issue.
