Well I think I really out did myself this time. One of my best friends and roommates got married last week North of the 49th. I had him a RMR rifle built as my gift. It's a 35 Whelen built on a M70 EW with a #4 Pac-Nor 1-12" twist 24" barrel they had to hog out the channel a bit bedded it tuned the trigger and mounted a Z3 3-10 with a #4 on it in Talley lows.
We had to go down to Red Deer and Chance and his best man Kyle who I but a 280AI for saw a shiny 1911 in the pistol case. So I was able to walk away get the clerk and have him bring the rifle out. He brought it out and set the hard case on the counter. Chance came over and asked what's that. I replied, "It's yours!" He looked at me kinda dumbfounded opened it up and revealed his Whelen. His jaw hit the floor he couldn't believe it. Took it out and looked it over shouldered it and was just dumbfounded, he asked, "I thought I was in the clear. I never expected anything like this. How did you do this?"
"Well I know people. Had it built North of the 49th. Your one of my best friends and I wanted you to know it. I may not get to see you enough but that doesn't matter at the end of the day if you need something I'll be here for you."
So a couple days later we took it out to shoot it got everything set up rifle out he pulled the rifle click nothing waited a few re-cocked the bolt click. Pulled the case light primer strike put another in click same thing. After that I said were done something ain't right. Well we called RMR they said they proofed it and such and thought it was odd. So they wanted the rifle and the box of ammo back. We sent it in and the ammo was severely undersized and didn't properly headspace causing the misfire. They even swapped out the box of faulty Rem ammo he bought in Red Deer. So it's headed back and hopefully I'll get a range report this week or next. That's some awesome customer service if you ask me.
