This is an excellent video about a disgusting version of "hunting." Something no ethical hunter would want to be associated with. Good documentation of the extent of the problem of canned "high fence" hunts, if you can stand to watch.

Although I would never do it, I don't think it should be banned. Unless you stand on the grounds of disease controll. Just because something is not ethically or morally right with one person, doesn't mean the same goes for the next guy. If you don't like strip clubs don't go. If you don't like canned hunt don't go. The people who go on these are obvoisly not hunters, what is the difference if they buy a cow and want to shoot it like they are hunting?
The video footage looked like 90% of the hunting shows on T.V. Also does this include Texas hunting? Isn't most of Texas high fence hunting? After the hunters and Anti's team up to end canned hunting whats next? Hound Hunting, trapping, bow hunting? You will never appease Anti's

So you don't find anything wrong with shooting a drugged, pre-measured deer in a 3 - 6 acre high fence enclosure? That's what I saw...

I think there's a world of difference between what I saw on the video and the big private ranches that offer private land hunting.

Don't do it then, but why tell someone else they can't do it? Just because you find it objectionable doesn't mean the next guy does. If someone wants to spend that kind of money to shoot a drugged animal good for them. I wouldn't. I wouldn't even spend that kind of money to hunt wild animals. Where do peoples own morals stop? I know alot of people think shooting a wild animal, treed by hounds as nonsporting. Is that next on the chopping block?

What defines a canned hunt? To me, it is any high fence incloser, be it 2 acres or 20,000 acres. The animals can't escape.

Derek - somehow I think we enjoy the same kind of hunting...

Out in the wilds - with the rules of fair chase.

Thats the truth. I'm not trying to start a pissing match, I just feel the more laws passed, the less fredom we have. I can't stand watching the majority of the hunting shows on tv. I like Eastman's, The Best of the west, and a couple others. I wasn't suprised to see Jimmy Houston on the canned video. I'm sure Roger Raglin is on there too.

I have seen a few high fences places come into my area the last few years. They are new here it's something just getting started and I hate it. I hunt next to one place that is fenced and watch the deer walk up and down the fence trying to get out even though it is 3000 acres of good hunting land they what out to roam free who blaims them? I am sure that hunting a high fenced 5000+ acre ranch that the deer are wild would be " a form of hunting" not the same as shooting a deer in a 5 acre pen thats been drugged as many deer would never leave a 5000 acre size area in their life span high fenced or not. That said I would have less respect of a trophy bagged in such a fenced area as I don't believe it's right to fence wildilfe as it should be free as the name Wildlife says. As soon as you add the fence they become cattle and are rasied like cattle for profit.

Sickening, I personally don't think fences have anything to do with the great sport of hunting! :x :x

+1
Kind of like going to the farm and shooting "your" beef for the winter.
We could call them "slaterhouse shoots".
