i had early onset brand and cartridge snobbery, but spread my wings. i'm a big fan of s/w, but have grown ro love glock due to i can't settle with factory builds as parts were easy to come by. Them i jumped into the m/p's when finding aftermarket parts although some stayed factory. My latest buildings have been on the 320's in 357sig, 10mm and 45acp. Having early issues with the 1911 platform i cared nothing for them and thought little of the design. Well, I've bought 2 1911's so far and probably another 2 more depending on answers I get from the mfgr.

Whether you buy revolvers ir semi-autos what causes your choice in brands and/or cartridges?

I'm buying less to almost no 9x19's due to being less interested as they've become mundane. If I buy any it's due to brand making it appealing as that's what Beretta did on the 5 I bought since last September.

Snob? I don't know, maybe. I have a brand-new S&W M19 in the box laying in my safe, been there about 10 years (it was preowned and in someone's collection) along with a few others that I shoot. Got a Colt Detective .32 long New Police, loaded in the nightstand, multiple custom 1911s in various calibers.
If I had to pick just one it would be one of my 70sieres 1911s in 45acp, why? because they are simple to work on and the 45acp is a proven man stopper.
So yeah, I'm a snob.

I wouldn't say I am a snob, but they do have to be quality, well built and from a reputable manufacturer(usually USA manuf., but not all). My revolvers are split between Ruger and S&W, with a Kimber thrown in, and range from 22LR to 500S&W. The semi autos have a broader array of manufacturers.

For the most part I keep factory triggers on, but for curiosity I've changed some. Even on Glock's that most don't like i still have factory triggers. For the 1911's coming in i guess I'll see if I like them let alone the platform? On the sig 1911x the grips are to thin, but the reach is decent. On the double stack 10mm 1911 kimber I'm curious on how if any different the grip will be
