Case came apart

A buddy came into work yesterday and said his 243 has a partial case stuck in the chamber. the neck and shoulder are still in the gun. Any ideas how to remove it??

Sometimes an oversized bore brush pushed into the rear of the case will grab enough to remove it.Rick.

I have used a long drill bit, or a tap before gently tapit in and turn it while pulling out. A tight fitting boar snake from the muzzle might work as well.

I have used Liquid Wrench soaked overnight and a brass rod the next morning to remove an intact cartridge but never had a separated case to deal with.

I had the same thing happen in my 270. I used a spring hook. worked like a charm.

well -
That gizmo looks better than Dads rat tail file with a bent tang. He used one broken off just slightly larger than the ID of the neck. Just another thought, If it gets cold where you are or the freezer is empty, get the thing cold. The brass may shrink faster than the chamber wall and help it pop out easier. Just a thought. CL
