This time of year - we get terrific photos and posts of so many great hunts. Small game, birds, and most kinds of North American big game...

I often find myself just posting a quick "good job" or "congratulations" or something like that.

It's just a way of acknowledging the success of the hunter, and thanking them for sharing their hunt. I get a lot of joy from learning of other hunts, and the crew here is great about posting their results.

After decades of hunting, I know that some hunts are simple, short and easy. Others are long, hard, maybe even dangerous.

There's so much more that could be said than "congrats" - but time restrictions apply. Know that behind that simple "congrats" there's a lot of sincere appreciation for both your hunt, and the stories and photos you share.

Keep it up!

Regards, Guy

I was just thinking the same thing last night, Guy. I found myself feeling like I type the same response for each picture. I really do appreciate the pictures and stories as well. Since my wife and I were due to have our first child on opening weekend of rifle season, I've sat out most of the season. Absolutely worth it though! Starting Friday, Ill be on vacation until the 27th so hopefully I'll have some pictures and stories to contribute!

I really love seeing all the photos and hearing about some wonderful hunts. I agree with Guy...a simple "Congratulations" seems too brief, but it is heartfelt.

Thank you Guy, pointing that out- I find myself going back through these posts during those cold winter days and sharing some of those experiences, where I will never get to go. Or discovering that perhaps "that would be fun to try". Thanks to all who post. CL

I try to post a little something different on each one that I respond to. Sometimes I even follow up with a PM. I also know that I miss a few and always regret those.

Sometimes just a simple photo or one sentence can assist someone with what they consider a major problem!! (y)

Well said and you echo my sentiments exactly.

Ditto for me Guy!

Any luck elk hunting yet?

Hoping for some snow... Have a landowner willing to let me on the property, but very little elk activity on it yet. Once it snows down at lower elevations... The elk should show, and I'll get a phone call.

On the other hand, I think I'll just get out and give it a try this weekend anyway.

Good luck Guy I heard it snowed in Montana last night and You have the cold front coming in out of the great white north so maybe you'll get lucky and they start coming down out of the mountains.

Guy, I agree with you 100% I love this time of the year & I try to read all the hunting stories.
I am going to try write a post on this years Mule deer hunt in the next few days :).

Blessings,
Dan

I too echo Guy's sentiments!

I have been often asked why I buy and/or watch so many hunting shows...and the answer is simple...if I cannot be out there myself, I am glad to see others enjoying the great outdoors, and living adventures of a lifetime! I can live vicariously through them. I also get to experience new animals and wild places in these stories, photos and videos that I may not otherwise ever get the chance to experience for myself firsthand. It is your efforts to post these or produce these that provides this benefit for a great many others, and I for one am greatly appreciative to be able to share your passion, experience and memories with you!

The following response may not seem big enough to convey the heartfelt gratitude, but

Thanks!

+1 there Guy, and I've often felt the same thing on here. A lot of posts to read, and in the end a simple great job or nice work, etc. etc. etc. might seem lacking the attention the post deserves, but in reality it is an acknowledgement to the poster worthy of being noted.
