If you look in the valley you can see the end of a 1/2 mile long pond and a swamp. The end of the pond creates a pinch point for the deer that want to travel from one hill to the other hill. When they go around the end of the pond, they end up traveling through the swamp. You may notice the green notch between the woods and the swamp. That is a food plot. On the upper side in the pine trees there is a large platform stand that looks out over the food plot and the swamp. There are also shooting lanes cut up the hill for almost 100 yards.
There are "deer highways" in the swamp. Also the woods above the stand constitute a sanctuary area. I MAY go into those woods once a year to check tracks in the snow.
This stand has been a good producer through the years. It is where I shot my doe this season.
The second photo is my Back Porch Stand that looks out over the 650 yard long field behind my house. With my left elbow on the rest, it is surprisingly stable. It is definitely steady enough for a 400 yard shot.
