6X47 (222 Rem Mag) 28 gr H322, CCI 450 Primer, COAL 2.40" 70 gr Nosler BT & 27.1 gr H322, CCI 450 Primer, COAL 2.40", 70 gr Sierra BK
Just want to know how high I might be pusing my pressures? The Sierra load is on the cusp but the Nosler seems fine
I've been getting most of my data from either Hodgdon's web page or from my Sierra Manual. Hodgdon list max charge for this cartridge at 28 grains of H322 and Sierra has it at 28.1 grains. Both have this listed as 3100+ fps load with Sierra and Hornady bullets. Even though it isn't listed in the load data I've been using CCI 450 primers in both loads. 26.5 grains of H332 gave me the best accuracy for the Noslers and 27.1 grains gave me the best accuracy with the Sierras.
I stoped all my loads 1 grain below max because of the hotter primer. The Noslers haven't showed any pressure signs yet and I've actually ran them all the way up to 28 grains with no extraction problems or primer issues. I only went up that high after the 27 grain load didn't show any signs of pressure working up in small amounts shooting 3 shot groups using fire formed brass.
The Sierra bullets on the other hand with the 26 grains of H322 gave me some flattening of the primer, 26.5 grains looked normal, and 27.1 grains had me flattened again with some cratering. Again using the FF brass, I just can't figure out why the Noslers aren't showing any pressure signs like the Sierra's
