I'm shooting 180 grn. AccuBond out of a 300 Win. Mag at 3146 fps. at the muzzle. I shot a large mule deer buck at 456 yds. last year and it had a large hole through the shoulders, but dropped at the shot. This year I killed a muley doe under a 100 yds. and another large hole through the shoulders and again dropped at the shot. I thought these might be a little explosive but still wanted to try them on an elk. Well, last week I got my chance. Tagged a huge and I do mean huge cow elk. It's larger than my buddies 5 pt. bull. Quartering to me at 462 yds. Hit on point of shoulder on near side and broke it and broke rib on far side about 10" behind far shoulder. While skinning, we found the bullet just under the hide. It weighs 116.2 grns. for 64.6% retention.

jumpalot,

Congratulations on your elk. You made a great shot too.
If you can, post some pictures of your elk and the bullet.
We like to see pictures.

Looks like the 180g AB performed flawlessly if you ask me. If your worried about penetration issues, look no further then the 200g AB. I dont think I'll ever find a bullet.
