It may be a little 'overkill' - but the 270 WSM w/ a 140 gr Nosler AB is very potent. Was hoping to get a KS deer w/ this combination but that will have to wait.

Back to archery hunting for 3 weeks - 100 gr broadheads work well on coyotes too!

It's not overkill when the critter you want killed is dead. Good show on that yodel dog.

I once smacked one with a 175 grain TBBC from a 7RM. It blew both front legs off. The next one I shot disappeared. I walked up to where in dropped and found a .284 inch hole just above the sternum and an exit through the anus. No pelt damage at all on that critter.

Nice work. I would say the 270 WSM is perfect coyote medicine.

Congrats on the coyote! I figure whatever rifle is in hand when I spot a coyote, is good enough Coyote Medicine!

We use what we have in our hands. I took this one with a .270 in Oklahoma while hog hunting a while back.

We like a .243 but have to admit the old standard .270W has always worked just fine on long shots here in Northern Maine on the old songdog.............. I have my 270 set up with a Zeiss 3x9 that has the Z600 reticule and have never shot one yet at 600;[hope to this winter] I have shot a few at 400 yds, and found the 130gr BT to work just fine!
Keep up the good work!

That is a fine harvest of songdogs in Maine. That is keeping the population suppressed. Way to go, Earle.

I will use what ever I have in my hands. I missed a coyote with my bow earlier this year, arrow hit a branch.
This coyote was shot last year with my 6.5mm Rem Mag and a 130 gr AB, DRT.

Other than the fact that it is taking the dirt nap!

Most of the coyotes I have shot die with a snarl on their face.

I'm with you Jim I grab whatever is closest and take care of business. A dead yote or a dead badger is a good one. I know it's overkill but the 280AI did a number on the last badger I got. Right between the eyes.

When I hit them with my 40 gr. 222's, there isn't much left to photograph. Really blows the hell out of them. I thinking of getting some heavier 60 grain bullets and see how that performs.
Fur buyer doesn't want them either.
