I recently picked up a bunch of .308, 150 gr. and am wondering what the recommendations are for determining a safe powder charge.
I know that with moly-coated bullets, pressures are reduced (as well as velocity)
How far over listed max can I go? What's safe? What do you do?

I'm planning on using Varget or BL(C)-2
I'm shooting a Savage in .308 Win.

Cabela's messed up my order for my Nosler Manual, otherwise I'd be looking there.

Thanks in advance

Nosler #5 has this listed for Varget, 48.5 as max using Fed 210M primers at 3001fps.

The Hodgdon 2006 annual manual lists the following:
Varget - 47gn max Compressed, Fed 210M and at 2937fps

BL(C)-2 - 48gn max, 210M and at 2934fps

Be careful when loading the BLC-2. It is very temperature sensitive. I found that out last summer when shooting with my 308. Really good powder for the 308 though but reduced your load and watch for pressure sign. Varget will be your ticket without sensitivity issue.

I bought a ton of those bullets when they were on sale. I've shot them in 308, 30-06, 300win and all my guns really like them.
I can tell you from experience the molly doesn't do anything magic to the bullet. It shoots at the same velocity for me in all my guns as other bullets of the same wt. I've never thought molly was a "big" pressure reducer......usually it was equal to no more than 1/2 grain powder difference that's nothing to even think about.
