I haven't picked it up yet, but I got the revolver, over 200 pieces of brass, 4-die set (Lee), and chose the grips pictured on the gun (he had two sets available).

Seller seems to be a pretty good guy, semi-local. Going to get it on Friday or Saturday evening.

I'm pretty excited. I've shot a 57 before and really liked it. Can't wait to get it and get to the range! :)

That certainly looks like it will get the job done! Those 57s are really nice. Enough power for most anything you'd want to do with a handgun and resonable recoil.

Not to mention a cool factor. You find yourself playing Dirty Harry at the range

That does look to be a good acquisition, Tom. Congratulations. It should be a lot of fun to shoot.

Thanks!

I'm excited. I've been neglecting my handgun shooing for far too long. I've spent more time this summer with my 1911 and my G23, but I need to shoot more consistently throughout the year.

I've wanted a deer-capable revolver for some time. When I shot a 57 my father's friend owns, I knew that was what I wanted, but they usually are beyond my price range. This one was attainable. Had to sell a rifle to do it, but it's a rifle I hadn't really "bonded" with anyway, so it doesn't sting much. And I made a profit on the sale which enabled me to get this revolver. :)

Tom,

Very nice buddy, congratulations.
The 41 mag is a good one for deer hunting. Now you will need to get a Marlin 1894 in 41 Mag.

Nice. I have one of the same vintage that apart from a cylinder drag mark in the bluing looks brand new. It shoots great, but it looks so good that I don't use it. I shoot my 629 custom instead.

Nice!
I'm a fan of the .41 Magnum. Got a 4" Model 58 I need to finish paying for.

Look for a Model 1894FG. Manufactured beginning in 2003 and chambered for .41 Rem. Magnum. If you find one, buy two, because I would like to have one as well.

Lol. That would then also mean that cost will be substantial. Would have to go on the "someday" list at this point. I have a rather large expense coming in a month or so on a very special rifle.

I got a 57 today too.
Really looking forward to pairing it with my 58.

So, how has your 57 worked out for you?

Pretty well. I've got a few rounds through it, and while not a great handgun shooter, I was keeping them in about 4-5" at 25 yards, which is extremely good for me.

Once this cursed winter finally gives up on us here in PA, I've got a lot to shoot. Just worked out a deal for a Springfield Armory XDs today, too, lol.

The link didn't work for me so I have to ask, what length barrel is your 57?

Nice.
That to me that is the proper barrel length for a magnum. The 4" works for daily carry but the 6" let's one take advantage of what a magnum offers.

I like it. I have to get you some pics. It has some beautiful Herrett grips on it, I believe Trooper Jordan grips, with outstanding figure to the wood.

Sounds delicious! :)
Never thought of stocks on a handgun before as food but good stocks are a work of art that look good enough to eat. I eagerly await pictures.
