Did a little shopping yesterday!

Ooops, correction: It was "John Johnson", not Jedediah. My bad. What I read about it was that he would cut it out, take a bite out of it, and lay back on the carcass. Freaked the Crow out I bet! Made a good story if its not true! (y)

FOTIS, I got one of those Hawkin guns. I put a lyman peep sight on the tang and it shoots pretty good, though it won't shoot those Great Plains Bullets at all. I still got a box of them.

I am kind of excited for it to get here next week. The other 2 are going out with the 340 Bee on Sat or Sun.

Fotis, I started out with a TC Hawken kit and latter bought a Green Mountain 28" barrel for it.
Boy would that barrel shoot. Won a many country cured hams and sides of bacon with it when I would shoot in the old time style black powder matches with it. The factory barrel was a 1-28" twist while the Green Mountain barrel was a 1-56" twist which was perfect for round ball and patch. Sold that rifle and wish I still had it. I wanted a SLR Camera more than I wanted the rifle. Still have the camera because it is now worthless and I don't think you can get film for it though I haven't tried since I have a digital that cost way less.
I'll see if I can find a picture of the one I built from scratch when I was building them back in the 1980's. It's the only one I kept for myself and sold the rest.
Found a picture.
I found one though not the best picture it will give you some kind of idea what I did when I was younger. This rifle was made by hand and no modern tools were involved, the barrel is a Douglas but the stock was made from a rough sawed blank and all the furniture was cut out and shaped by hand. The pewter nose cap was poured directly onto the wood and shaped with no screws holding it in place. The lock triggers and sights were all made from cast metal and hand fitted and finished. Took me six months to build one rifle working on it in my spare time.

Fotis you realize that Savage' (French rifle) in 30-06 will be a tack driver and you will probably have to keep it forever!
