Any one have any thing to say about there .260. Little confused do they make a .260 rem or is it a conversion?

They make several rifles in various 308 family of cartridges. They are all basically the same rifles with only different barrels.

Just as the 6mm Rem and the .257 Roberts are necked down 7mm Mauser cases, the .243 Win, .260 Rem, 7mm08, .338 Fed and .358 Win are neck sized down or up .308 cases.

Yellow Dog - though the .223/5.56mm version of the AR platform is more familiar, the larger AR-10, taking .308 size cartridges has existed for decades. Various makers have produced those guns, including DPMS.

Do you know if the one you ordered was a gen 1 or gen 2? I have a gen 2 in 308 with 24” heavy bull barrel and really like it. The two are not compatable. There are significant differences between the two. I didn’t know how different they were until recently when i picked up the parts to make an upper in 260 and the two didn’t fit. If you don’t have dies yet I have a brand new set of hornady 260 dies with micrometer seating stem. I sent back all the stuff to make the upper but hadn’t sent back the dies cause I was still thinking about making a long range rifle in 260.

im not sure bear. didn't realize there was a difference.

it comes with the stainless 24 bull barrel

im all god on dies i picked up a setoff Redding dies a while back. im all to excited

The gen 2 uses ar15 furnature and has a slimmer lighter reciever. I'm not sure why they did this but they completely changed the receivers.

If your shoots as well as my lr308 your going to be very happy.

how come there is no Win short mag offerings made by the ar company's?

...google it, you'll find a number of manufacturers...

so it is supposed to be here Monday.

never loaded for a semi auto other then .223. anything I need to know, man im ready (y)

Pretty standard, small base dies might aid reliability. Other than that just watch your COL and keep your loads on the tame side.

Here is my LR308 gen II

My upgrades include a Geisselle High Speed NM trigger, a Syrac adjustable gas block, and Magpul MOE+ grip and PRS stock. The adjustable gas block is nice if you notice the rifle beating up your brass. Depending on what powder burn rate and charge ammount you might need one. I’d try the stock one first but if you notce brass lip shearing or cratered primers it could be a gas issue and the adjustable gas bock is worth its weight in gold.

I’m betting it will be a shooter. Post some pictures after you get it set up.
