I am having a hard time trying to decide what rifle to use this year on deer. I have two rifles that have not shot anything yet. The first rifle is a 25-06 using 117 grain sierra gamekings going 3113 fps and .495 inch groups at 100 yards. The second rifle is a 308 win using 180 grain speer hot core bullet and .875 inch groups at 100 yards. I will be testing the velocity here shortly for the 308.
I also have a 270 win that I have already shot an elk and a couple deer with it. The bullets that I am using for it is 140 grain hornady interlock bullets going 2962 fps and under half inch three shot groups (Like always). So what should I use? Thanks

Oh heck! None of them things will kill a deer! But I'll bet if you aim any of those things at a deer and pull the trigger you can kill any deer living.
It sounds like you are looking for a new rifle. That's a healthy attitude!
Ok! Just for the records I would go with the 308. Mule deer don't always fall down with a 270 hit like they do with a 308 hit with the heavy bullet. Of course it's a well know fact that 25 caliber bullets just bounce off and a sling shot will take down a deer quick if you can put it's eye out with the shot. I suggest you start looking for a new rifle and caliber.
Good Hunting

Why not use them both? With all the different animals you will have the opportunity to hunt in Montana, you can use the 25-06 for antelope and deer and use the .308 for elk. My friends in Montana seem to find a way to use several rifles over the course of the season!

If you use that 25-06 you will be putting that 308 up for sale. I have shot deer with about everything from a stick to a 45-70 and in my book there is nothing that will drop a deer in it's tracks more consistently than the 25-06. And that 117 Sierra gameking or prohunter which my rifle likes and I use, is wicked.

If you want a great deer killing load for that 308 try 46 grs IMR 4895 and a 125 Nosler ballistic tip. I have shot around 20 deer with this bullet in a couple different 30 cal rifles between 2850 and 3100 fps muzzle velocity and it kills as well as the 25-06. I have never had one of those deer even take a step after being hit. I front shoulder shoot them. Either going in or coming out one or both of the front shoulders. Shots have been from 50 yards to around 300 yards.
I got two big nine point bucks last year. One with my 25-06 with the 117 Prohunter and the other with a wildcat 30X47HBR and 125 BT. The 30X47HBR is a shortened in the body 300 Savage case. With 42 grs IMR 4895 it will drive the 125 BT 2850 from the 24" tube. Both deer hit the ground dead as a hammer at the crack of the gun.

Hi, I am real partial to the 270 win and I would take it with a small change.
I would switch to 130gr Accubonds
I have shot numerous Mule deer with the 270 win and never had a problem up until recently I used partitions (I try always to use the best ).
This is just my opinion but any of the rifles you have mentioned will do the job shot placement is always the main thing.
Have a great hunt and enjoy what God has given us.
