I recently purchased a CZ 584 in 12gauge/7x65R and need to start working up some loads for it. Since I will be using this at least part of the time in Central California I need to get a condor friendly load together for it. I am initially thinking about using 150 gr bullets in either E Tip or TSX. I haven't used any E Tips before and was wondering what experiences board members have between the two. I've used TSX in the past in other calibers with good results, but I like Nosler products and want to give the E Tip a shot since I now have a caliber that they make the E Tip in. Thanks in advance

The 7mm 150 gr E-Tip is a pretty impressive bullet. I did some testing with this bullet and found both accuracy and penetration are excellent.

JD338,

That is indeed a fine group.

I note that you have a fair jump to the lands. I notice from your earlier post that you were planning to play with seating depth. Did you start at 0.050" and work outward from the lands? Have you tried seating out any farther than 0.100"?

DrMike,

As I recall, I started .050" off the lands. I ended up at .100" off the lands and stopped there. Accuracy is very good at .100" off the lands and .300" was my best group. I also shot a few more groups, they all went under .5".

I hope to get access to some property in the rifle zone to test these bullets during the late doe season.

Your experience confirms some of my observations. While with unicomponent bullets I usually start at 0.050" off the lands, a longer jump is often necessary to give maximum accuracy. There must be some good physics to be explored here.

My experience, as with a few others on the forum here, indicate that the E-Tips seem to sing when seated .100" off the lands.

I'll second the long jump for E-Tips. I'll also add that in my experience, slower powders work best, as well.

I would love to be shooting e-tips in my 7mm-08 but dont want to go that heavy,,,,,, any chance of a 120-130 7mm version?

Give it time

a 120 surrrrrrreeeee would be nice,,,, the 120 BT has always worked for me but the added insurance of the e-tip would be nice

Been enough time yet?????? Just kidding, today I shot a buck that the 120 BT killed dead right there, Bullet centered the left shoulder and lodged under the skin behind the last rib on the other side, range 70 yards and speed at the barrel of 3050fps. Same bullet condition as all the other 120s I've recovered, no lead left just the jacket and base. Would have been nice for it to go on through. I've tried the 140 Accubonds but they just dont shoot as well for me at all.
