Elk Crossing

I never cease to marvel at how effortlessly they clear a fence. They are beautiful to watch. That is quite a good sized herd in the first video.

JD, Did you film those in your big back yard???? :)

Mike,

It's amazing to see how effortlessly they can run right through a 3, 4, or 5 strand barb wire fence too and not even slow them down.
Have helped with many a fence repair in my younger days.....

Cool video JD

Yes, I've witnessed their destructive power. I commented to a hunting partner this fall that it was always a bit of a puzzle to me that horses and cows don't jump fences as do moose, elk and deer. There is no question but that the wild game are much more accustomed to roaming free and doing whatever is necessary to remain free! I guess if someone feeds us and cares for us we get lazy (caution to advocates of government handouts: political point of view being advanced). On the other hand, if we provide for ourselves, we are hearty and strong and likely to remain free.

DrMike. in that first video I think that was the entire elk population of Saskatchewan. But I know that it was not because in Saskatchewan you can see them coming for 2 miles

Blessings,
Dan

That's pretty much typical for (on a private ranch) or just before or after elk season. What an awsome sight to behold.
