Montana elk rifle season opens tomorrow and I am here to enjoy the hunt. I will be with Upper Canyon Outfitters south of Alder for two weeks guided hunt. This is my third seaso with them and they treat you like family.

I hope to have a good story to share but I will have a great time with or without a kill. Hope everyone does well and be safe. Rol

Put the bullet where it needs to go and you'll be eatin' fresh back-strap for supper.

All the best,

Go get 'em, Rol. Here's to all the best for you. Looking forward to the story.

Good luck, have fun, and God bless.

Day 1 was a beautiful day. The only elk we saw were about 5 miles away on the snowcrest Mts. We did see mule deer and several hunters. Not many shots fired in our area.

I am carrying a Montana Rifle Co. Left Hand American Standard Rifle.,walnut and blued steel in 30-06. Going to use Federal Premium 180 Partitions. It is a beautiful rifle and shoots better than I can.

Sounds like an outstanding rifle with a good load that'll do the trick.
Have fun and go git 'er done mate. :)

It does sound as if you have the appropriate rifle for this hunt. Isn't it amazing how so many of us are compelled to admit that the rifles we own are seldom made to live up to their potential in our hands. Comforting, though. (y)
